Hello

Hi, I'm Sarah. I have been in the classroom for nearly twenty years, and if there is one thing I know for certain, it is this. The most powerful learning does not come from worksheets, plans or perfectly set up activities. It comes from moments. Real ones. The kind you cannot script.

For me, it has always come back to talk.

Over the years, across every year group I have taught, I kept noticing the same thing. The children who could talk, explain, wonder and make sense of their ideas were the ones who thrived. Not just in literacy, but everywhere. Maths, play, relationships, confidence. Everything.

But I also saw how easily that could be missed.

So much of classroom practice focuses on outcomes, on recording, on getting something down on paper. And somewhere along the way, the rich, messy, beautiful talk that sits underneath it all can get squeezed out.

That is where @OracyPlayroom began.

Initially I just wanted a space to capture what I was already doing in my classroom. The little things that made a big difference. The way a well timed comment could open up thinking. The way a simple prompt could turn into a whole conversation. The way children’s ideas, when truly listened to, could take learning somewhere far better than anything I had planned.

Things like Tiny Mouse. Or a random spoon in a box. Or a fluffy pencil.

Completely unplanned. Slightly ridiculous. Hugely powerful.

One tiny provocation. And suddenly the room is full of questions, storytelling, problem solving, mark making. All because the children care. All because it feels real to them.

That is the heart of everything I create.

Simple, thoughtful resources that do not overwhelm the space, but support the adult. Because in EYFS your adults are your most powerful resource. The words we choose, the pauses we give, the way we notice and respond. That is where the magic is.

Oracy Playroom is about helping that feel easier. Giving you the confidence to step back, to follow the play, and to know what to say in those in between moments where the real learning happens.

No gimmicks. No overload. Just meaningful talk, playful learning, and a bit of whimsy along the way.

Because there really is not enough of it in the world!
